Getting started
This guide takes about five minutes. It assumes KeyMob is installed and your device is paired.
1. Select the device
Section titled “1. Select the device”Open KeyMob with the device connected, then select it in the device list. The header shows the model, the iOS version and the connection type.
2. Choose an app
Section titled “2. Choose an app”Select your app in the app selector. Performance counters, the log filter and the file browser all follow this choice.
To see everything running on the device, keep the whole device selected. This is useful for questions such as an unexplained overnight battery drain.
3. Open the right module
Section titled “3. Open the right module”| Question | Module |
|---|---|
| Why is it stuttering? | Performance, then FPS and jank |
| What did it just print? | Live logs |
| Why did it crash? | Crash logs |
| What did it write to disk? | File manager, then App data |
| What is installed, and can I install this build? | App management |
| What drained the battery? | Usage history and Energy |
| Has this device been modified? | Device information |
4. Export your results
Section titled “4. Export your results”Every module can export its results so you can share them:
- Performance captures are saved and can be reopened later.
- Logs are saved to a text file with the current filter applied.
- Crash reports are exported symbolicated.
- Files are downloaded to a folder you choose.
- Screenshots are saved as images, one at a time or on a timer.
Example
Section titled “Example”A tester reports that the feed stutters during fast scrolling, but only on their device.
- Pair their device and select your app.
- Open Performance and start a capture.
- Ask the tester to reproduce the scroll for ten seconds.
- Stop the capture and find where the frame rate drops. Check the other counters at the same moment: a CPU spike, rising memory or a flat GPU each point to a different cause.
- Open Live logs, filter to your app, and read what it logged during that time.
- Export both and attach them to the ticket.
The rest of this documentation covers each of these steps in more detail.
