Device not found

If the device is connected and charging but the device list is empty, work through these checks in order. On Windows, the first item usually solves it.

1. Windows: install the Apple device driver

Section titled “1. Windows: install the Apple device driver”

Windows does not include a driver for iOS devices. Without it, the device charges but does not appear, and no error is shown.

Download the driver, unzip it and run the installer. Then disconnect and reconnect the device.

If iTunes or the Apple Devices app is installed, the driver is already present, but an incomplete or blocked installation can leave it broken. Reinstalling the driver is safe.

A locked device cannot complete pairing or show the trust prompt. Unlock it and keep it unlocked while you retry.

The device asks Trust This Computer?, then asks for the passcode. Complete both. If the prompt does not appear, it may have been dismissed earlier. To reset it, go to:

Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Location & Privacy

This clears all saved pairings on the device. Reconnect it and the prompt appears again.

Many USB cables carry power only. If no computer has ever recognized the device on this cable, replace it. Use a cable you know carries data, such as Apple’s own.

  • Use a port on the computer rather than a hub.
  • On a desktop, use a rear port. Front-panel ports are less reliable.
  • On older computers, a USB 2 port sometimes works where a USB 3 port does not.

Try each step in order, and retry after each one:

  1. Disconnect and reconnect the device.
  2. Restart KeyMob.
  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Restart the device.

Only one application can hold the device connection at a time. Close iTunes, the Finder device view, the Apple Devices app, Xcode and any other device tools, then retry.

KeyMob supports iOS 12 or later. Earlier versions are not supported.

Pairing has succeeded. Refresh the list. Also check that the device has not locked: a locked device stops responding to most requests, even though it stays connected.

Wi-Fi debugging requires both devices on the same network and an existing USB pairing. The session ends if the device joins another network or the network isolates its clients. Reconnect the cable, pair again, then retry.

  • The iOS version and device model
  • Whether the trust prompt ever appeared
  • What the device list shows
